I betcha a couple years from now she will be good as new!!! The modern medical miracles astound me. My friend cut 4 of his fingers off about 9 months ago and not only were they able to re-attach them, but his physical therapy is coming along well. I'm sure your Grand Daughter will do fine through the years.

I will pray for a full recovery for your Grand Daughter.

My son in law was moving some snow in his yard with his bulldozer and had some pretty big banks plowed up and the kids thought it would be fun to play on them. He didnt know they were up on them and was plowing along side of one and the girl fell and slid down the bank and her had got into the idler on the track and was crushed. They had to medivac her by plane to milwaukee Wis. last night to a trama center. Her hand was crushed and there were mulitble bones sticking out. Daughter went with her on the plane and called about 2 am and said she was just going into surgury and it would take 6-8 hours and the doctors figured it was about a 60/40 chance of saving her had so any prayer that you guys can muster would be GREATLY appreciated. She a real good kid and it would crush me if she lost her hand!

Because she is young as she grows up she will adapt to any limitations as if they were normal because they are normal for her. Kids adjust to these things much better than adults.

Tell her a bunch of people care about her and are following her progress.

you can use control + at the same time to zoom in if anyone wants to see it closer.
keep us posted Lloyd, and let her know there are a LOT of people pulling for her.
littlegirl had some surgery done on her hand a while back and they were able to move blood vessels and bones around in there and re-set everything.

WOW, lucky young lady. Hows her father doing? I'm sure he feels terrible even though he knows it was an accident.

Prayers for the family, Many times treating the injury to flesh was easy compared to helping the one who claimed the blame. He will need help.

Got one little chuckle out of all of this. When we were in the emergency room at the local hospital before she was flown to WI the first thing she asked the emergency room doctor is if he thought she would be able to race her motocross bike this summer. Apple doesnt fall far from the tree!

WOW! Lloyd, that is vastly better than I was envisioning. I can imagine that she might miss one season. Tell her it's a year for maturing and learning strategy.

Lloyd, If you think your Granddaughter would like it maybe you could start a "Get well soon card" kind of thread for her. It won't take the pain away but might make her smile. FB

Wow, she is lucky it wasn't worse.
Luckily she is young and will heal pretty quick. I just pray there isn't any permanent damage.

Hoping for the best for the family Lloyd.

This question convinces me 100% that your granddaughter will be just fine. Reminds me of the model Lauren Scruggs, who walked into the prop of an Aviat Husky at night. She lost a hand, an eye, and had a fractured skull. When she was in the hospital, all her family was wringing their hands, talking about what a disfiguring tragedy it was for such a beautiful woman. Lauren demanded they bring her a mirror. She took one look and said, "Hey, I don't look that bad!"

Here she is at the 2012 Olympics. http://video.today.msnbc.msn.com/today/48587195#48587195

I bet your granddaughter will be showing off her battle scars to all her motocross buddies this summer...

And +1 on the comments about reconstructive surgeons and what they can do. One of my students had his right thumb blown off in Iraq. The docs replaced it with his pinky finger. His hand worked fine. I asked him if it hurt to shoot my .44 Magnum. He said "Yes, but not any more than if I shoot it left-handed..."
