View Full Version : 4 axis wire

Here's something perhaps you don't see everyday.
4 axis wire EDM has been around for some time now but bullet mold applications are, What ?
Being able to cut two entirely different shapes top to bottom, I'm trying to imagine how I could use this.
It's available, it's used, I've used it just for sh*ts and giggles but can't seem to see an application as yet.
Any ideas ? Worthless to us ?

Back when I had use of one they work great for o percent ar lowers
For the mag well,take down pin holes and joint line. I did four this way

Sounds like something for the AR series of weapons ?

Now you need a plunge EDM to put the hole in your "D" where the wire wouldn't reach. :kidding:

An AR lower receiver raw forging. Picture an AR lower without the holes drilled, mag well solid, etc. Solid block of aluminum.

Your wire machine has been used to make turbine blades where they taper from the inner end to the outer end.

They have the same airfoil over the complete length but it progressively gets bigger the further out you go.

The software to run these things is pretty amazing stuff.
