Just something I threw together to be sure my lead was never too hot. Lee production pot, $35 PID, an old 120mm fan, some 80/20 aluminum.

I think the fans are overkill.
Neat setup.
I would recommend a little lip around the base so if the spout sticks open the lead will stay on the aluminum.

I love this kind of thinking. I only wish I knew more about electrical workings
as I do about other stuff.

what brand/model PID did you use? I'm thinking about putting together a set up for my lee pro 4-20

WOW! Looks great! I 'm jealous, maybe I'll get motivated. More details please. Tim
Ps wiring details.

I kinda just wired it on the fly. If you look close at the photo you should be able to copy the wiring. The Solid State relay is a Fotek SSR-25-DA. the PID is a JLD612.

There is a place right next to the pot to put in heating element for preheating molds ! Hint, hint[smilie=1:

I want my mould preheater farther away.

Amen to that. Many of us have learned the hard way. 20 pounds of lead pouring out while your desperately trying to grab anything to put under it while not getting burned. No fun! I now have mine sitting in a cookie sheet.

I've found that the pie pans made of SS that they sell in Tracter Supply work great as a catch pan under the drip-o-matic! It will hold the whole 10 lbs, ask me how I know. Tim

Temp. probe

I have found that my controller newer overshoots the set temp by more than 2-3degC.

Ok, not a lead melter, but I'm building a rotary tumbler too:

Is the tumbler molded in SolidWorks?

Yeah, it's in solidworks.. Got the drum too.
I'll have detailed prints as soon as I get time as well as a full Bill of Materials.
