I bought some lead from someone that is suppose to be soft lead for muzzleloading bullets but it has a blue purple tint to it. Is this normal or is something wrong with it?

I have seen lead with lots of different hues to it. Alot has to do with what it has been exposed to during its oxidation. Not sure on the blue hue tho. If you melt some and flux it. skim off the dross and cast some ingots. if it comes out shiny, fills out the mold and you can scratch it with your thumb nail then you should be golden. Someone else may chime in on the color. But honestly one persons purple is another persons gray... I just went outside and glanced at my couple thousand pounds of lead and I can see all kinds of colors. One thing if you melt some down do it outside preferably with a light breeze at your back just in case something bad is in it.

It's normal. Soft lead is pretty stuff.

My vote is that the lead you got is pretty soft. Happens to me on my soft lead when I melt it.

Bought some years ago from a muzzleloader shop. It was kind of purple/blue. When I melted it the color stayed on top like dross, skimmed it off and poured some nice, shiny ingots and slugs.

Yup, normal for soft lead.

blue/purple is like having a stamp of authenticity.
it turns flat grey over time so enjoy it.

That must be why mine is all gray.
