I need help findinng the perfect bullet for 9MM / 38 Super. I have the bullet and the mould but... it is an old ideal that casts a nominal 140 grain round nose that drops at .358 and weighs just 137 grains when cast from 1/2 and 1/2 wheelweights and lino. The problem is that it is an old mould and the sid ewhere the numbers are is marked 358 scratch rust pit gouge hammermark. The interior of the mould is in excellent condition and it casts a real nice round nose with two grease grooves and it is the most accurate bullet I have found so far for my 9MM. But what the heck is it? If I had a number I would be looking for a spare. If anyone else has one I woulld sure like to find the complete number.

BTW this is also and excellent small game bullet for the 38-357 with 3.0 of bullseye. One clean hole wiith little meat damage.

How many lube groves does it have? The only Lyman/Ideal nominal 140 gr. RN I find in .358 is the #35864 with 1 lube grove and a long bearing nose.

Your mold sounds a lot like the 358212. I have a double cavity and it is a dandy 9mm, 38special and 357 boolit. I've attached a pic of my mold, pardon the cell phone picture. 60066

You can have Mountain molds duplicate it in a more usere friendly 3cav alumn. He does really nice work & the molds cast really nice bullets right out of the box.

try Lee 356-120TC. Should work great in .38 Super. I use .357 or .358 diam in 9mm
with this and it is all around wonderful. AC WWts and NRA 50-50 is all you need.

If you want to try something else, the Lee 356120TC in 6 cavity works great in my 9mm's and 38 Super and is accurate.

Unfortunately I don't have one to weigh at the moment. All that I have are loaded in 9mm and 38's. The lyman book lists this mold weight as 146gr, as I remember cast from ww it drops at around 147. The weight you are getting sounds good with a mix of 50% Linotype 50% ww. I will look in my garage today to see if I can find a loose boolit to weigh so I can give you an accurate weight.
