Teaching a Newbee to load 38S for hil Tarus revolver. Loaded 50, mixed brass, all full length resized, primed with Lee hand prime, belled, RCBS Dies, 125 gr. lee blts sized .358. The majority would not chamber in his Tarus, but drop freely into my Ruger Black Hawk. Chambers in the Tarus were very very dirty, and I cleaned them throughly, and then tried some of the loads and no dice. Have probably loaded 5000 rds of 38S and an equal number of 357's, with no problem in either my Colt or Blackhawk.

Any thoughts here???????

Sounds like really tight chambers to me. I know from personal experience that the quality of early Taurus revolvers is far from what they are today. Even at that, they are no Smith, Ruger, or Colt.

It's a older Rossi not Taurus, even though they are the same now, not sure they were when it was made

bullets stick out of the case and hit his throat.
use your calipers bottom end to measure his chambers to the lip.
then your brass to the front of the rim. and add the rim thickness
this gives you a base oal.
after that is where the throat starts.
a front drive band can be all that's hampering your efforts.

i have a rossi revolver in 357 it's cut a bit tight but is a good revolver.
i have tried to wear it out over the years.
it was actually the first handgun i ever bought.

Measure the finished cartridge. Without facts (measurements) it's all just a guess...
