I am wanting to try a different powder in a Marlin 35 Rem I bought this year. I have not shot it much yet. I have I&H 4350, I-3031, 4064, 4198, Varget, H-414.
I am thinking of trying either H-335 or Blc2. Which would work best with the RCBS 200 gnfn?

Full case of H414 is fine enough without having to pay for a different speed. 4350 is just too slow. The others in your list will work fine too, and are fast enough for seeking the best load via the manuals. That case and bore size is extremely nice for cast loads. ... felix

H335 is my favorite .35 Remington powder, closely followed by AA 2520. For details, see:

Glen is right on. Use the same in 32-30 (35WS). ... felix

Being you have Varget, give it a try. I bet a full case shoots good.

Full loads of 4064 under Hornady or Remington 200 gr. RN pills shoots well for me.

I like Reloder 7 for mine.

IMR 3031 works best for me.

34.0 grs Rel 7 with the RCBS 200gr FNGC WW water quenched bullets gets close to 2200 fps from my Marlins with 1-1 1/2" at 100yds for 3 shots. Sparked by Win LR primer.

Ditto on what 1hole said. I use IMR4064 with 200 grain cast/jacketed full case loads and get excellent accuracy.

............My 35 Rem built on a small ring Mauser just LOVES surplus WC846, which is similar to BLC2. When I was first working up loads for it (Saeco 200gr FNGC) I stated on WC846. The more I put in the faster it went (well, duh :-)), but best of all the groups got smaller.

I finally reached the point to where the base of the slug was sitting on top of the powder, the 200 gr cast slug was going 2300 fps and they were overlaping each other on the target at 50 yards.

The Moral of these stories: The "Pet Loads" concept asside, there ain't no ones tack-driving formula going to be the magic which helps anyone else find THE load for a different rifle.

Amen to that! :drinks: Still, some continue to believe in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, despite evidence to the contrary. Every barrel is a universe unto itself, that's why there are so many different powders on the market.
