So I went down to one of the local shops here in Tulsa Friday to pick up a set of 45acp dies, a shell holder, a mold and a sizer die for my 4500... Well, first off, they didn't have ANY sizer dies for a lyman lubesizer. But they did have the rest. So I buy what I'm needing, head out the door, and off the the house. Brought the bag in and kindly laid it down on the reloading bench. Flash forward....

Last night I decided I was going to do a little be of preemptive case work, and size/decap my brass. Well guess what. I grabbed not a shell holder for a press, but one for the lee Hand Prime. Now I just feel retarded....

Been there... Needed 338 win mag dies, got home and found that I had picked up 300 win mag.

I'll bet most of us have done something like that. All may not be lost though, if you have a shell holder for the .30-06,.308, .243, .7-08, .358, I think it will work with the .45ACP!

yessir they will.
#3 or #11 in rcbs should fit.

Yep, the .45 ACP uses the same shell holder as a .30-06 or .308; you probably already have one around.

Yep, been there. I spent some time trying to figure out how I could make Retumbo work well in 38 Special cases.....decided I couldn't

I bought a pound of H380 once through an episode of magnificent brain flatulence while intending to buy HP38 for my .45 ACP. The clerk gave me exactly what I asked for and I bought it, got it home before realizing the mistake. It's still sitting in the powder magazine unused.

Ever buy an RCBS die set and forget they don't come with the shellholder? Done that, too.

Yep, been there done that. Several years ago I came home with a die set for a new (to me) caliber and damn, no shellholder. I started adding a shell holder or two to every order I made at Midway until I had every one through number 45. A few no doubt I will never use but never again will I not have the right one.

Here's a complete list of every RCBS numbered shell holder, most are for more than one caliber and should help ya out.

Lee offers a complete set of shell holders (both the primer tool type and the reloading type) for a MUCH reduced price over buying individually. I have used their sets for years and they are compatible with all normal reloading tools (if you buy the proper type:roll:). F&M Reloading offers these for $22.45 for the eleven shell holders. That's about $2.00 each - talk about a deal.

Best purchase I ever made was to get the Lee complete shell holder sets for the press and auto prime. All triggered by one too many of the episodes described above. Not just one, mind you - One too many!

You truly know youve arrived when you spend 5 minutes in the bathroom, wondering why you're there. Until you realize your socks are getting warm.

I have discovered in my seventy odd years of life that doorways are brainwashing tools. Every time I go from one room to another I forget why I went there.

I read a study somewhere that proved exactly that about doorways. I've been through a few doorways since them, so I can't remember where I saw it!

I ordered 25-21 dies from C&H and didn't think of shellholders. No common one fits. Had to place another order.

My first set of 500 S&W dies I bought were RCBS. I go to open the box because I was ready to start sizing...No shell holder, Dang.
then I think, no problem, I got that set of eleven Lee shells holders, there must be one in there...Nope. Dang, road trip to cabelas, because I was bound and determined to start that day. They had one.

When I first got into reloading I bought the LEE set's of shellholder's.
One set for the priming tool and the other set for the press.
It's gotten me outa tight place's before, and helped out a couple fellow reloader's in a pinch.
