Not sure if it's worth refinishing or what it's worth as a shooter or collectable?

I could be way low but If it has a good bore I would pay 150-200 for it as a shooter. Not knowing anything about it.

I like that.

Simple straightforward.

I wonder where Mr. Kirkland came up with that?

Mr. Charley said Kirkland would buy entire warehouse contents in Europe and it would be like Christmas as it was unboxed here.

Just looking at the two pictures the gun looks like it could be made to shoot without too much difficulty assumming that the bore and breech is in sound and shootable condition. One thing I did notice is that the hammer is not striking squarely on the nipple. The simple fix for a reliable ignition would be a shorter replacement nipple of the same thread which would allow your hammer to fall more forward to strike on the full cap and not just on the corner.

Exactly. Something will have to be done with the hammer to nipple geometry. I'm not sure lowering the nipple will be enough though. May need to have the hammer bent and that particular type (tighter) bend would require more than a simple tweak.

Overall, the gun doesn't appear to need refinishing at all but the bore condition and the $ might be the deal maker or breaker.

If the bore is good I think it could be a decent shooter with little work.

It looks like one of the spanish single shot smoothbores, that Dixie
Gun Works sold in the 60's and early 70's. They only cost 50 to 60dollars if I remember right. I have it's twin but it is a 50 cal SB.
Not to bad for a cheap gun. I use mine with blackpowder and un
cooked rice, for popping carpender bee's in the summer. Pick it up
if you can get it cheap enought.

Webfoot10, Off subject but I have the bee problem too. So how do you load the rice? Powder, wad, fice and another wad? Thanks

gunner69: I use a 32 acp case half full of 3f bp. then a ,500 wad
cut from a waxed paper milk carton. Then a thimble full of uncooked
rice, topped with a bit of toilet paper. It shoots good to about 10 ft.
then just drops to the ground. Just don't let the neighbors see you.
I am lucky as most of my neighbors are at work during the day. But
the light charge of bp and the rice is pretty safe to shoot. Just watch
what's behind the bee's. Have fun.
