I just picked up an interesting .30 caliber mold; it was described as a ".30 caliber 210 grain" bullet mold.

I am guessing that it may indeed be a version of the 311335, but the mold blocks only have a faint LYMAN stamp with the number "547" (on both blocks, so I am guessing that it shows that they are mated.) There is NO traditional 6-digit Lyman 'mold number' on these blocks.

I will try to include a photo as well.

The other curious thing is that there is no crimp groove or front drive band... just a grease groove.

Your thoughts, gentlemen (and/or ladies)?

More on this one after I have time to cast up some samples...

It might be a recut of an exosting mold.

Look familiar? It's the old Ideal 311335 (GC) 206gr mold with no crimp groove...

The thing is... this mold doesn't have any crimp groove, nor does it have the same nose profile (not to mention that it does not have any number stamped on it.)

It sure (also) looks like a 311334. The least that could be said is that the two are very similar. They are great bore-riders especially for O3-A3 2 groove barrels as well as the 5 groovers in the 1917's. LLS

The 210 grain weight might preclude it being a 334, but happy to say, I have a couple of S-C 03-A3's, a WIN Model 1917, and a couple of REM Model 30's... will be checking this bullet out in them all.

Is it possible that it is actually an Ideal mold? I have seen several of these that had no number on them. Lyman bought Ideal a looong time ago.

Not an Ideal, but a Lyman. I hope to cast up some today (and hopefully this mold will suffice with just cleaning with a toothbrush and some barkeepers' friend, and some Bic lighter smoke.)

Will use WW + 2% Sn to get a sense of what weight/dimensions this thing drops at.

PS: The guy I bought it from was using it w/o GC's in a 300 Blackout.

Looks like a 311679 to me.

30 caliber 195 grain gas check mould designed by John Ardito. Features a bore riding nose which tapers up to meet the driving bands.
