I bought a raffle ticket for a BLR in 22-250 today. A total of 250 tickets will be sold. That is not a caliber I would have chosen in that gun. How accurate are these? I thought it a strange caliber for a lever gun. A lever varmit rifle?

I own a .243 BLR my father gave me when i turned 12, first centerfire rifle i ever fired. For bein as short and handy as they are, the rotary lockup on them makes them quite strong and accurate as well. I love mine and would not trade it for the world to be honest! I have used it with iron sights, scope and night vision for varmints and it always has performed excellently for me. I suspect you will find yours to have a level of accuracy right in with a bolt rifle, and at what they cost they better darn well shoot good!
Congrats on your win!

I've had a BLR in 223 for around 20 years. It's my go to ranch rifle. Coyotes in the pasture, hogs, whatever the need, it gets the job done. It's more accurate than I have become lately. Hold on to it, you'll be glad you did.

Good gun, mine is a 1991 build in 243, as accurate as my other sporter 243 guns. Beware tearing it apart for detail cleaning. It must be timed, took me several aggravating tries to get it right and it will fire without being fully rotated into the locked position. Nice guns!!!

I haven't won it yet, but hope to. Just can't adjust my thinking to a lever varmit rifle. If I win I will wring it out and post the results.

Can you shoot deer in Texas with a 22-250?

I have a Pre-81 in 308 and an 81 in 358. For 10 shot groups they will get warm and the accuracy is not as good as a quality bolt. For coyotes and what have you it should be good. I love mine as hunting guns, but they are not bench rifles.

We can shoot deer in Texas with any centerfire caliber. Guess that means a 17 centerfire is legal. I won't get into ethics here.

When I lived in Australia & shot Lever Action Competition with the S.S.A.A. the Browning BLR (& their twin Miroku MLR) were quite popular especially in .222Rem, .223Rem, .22/.250Rem, & .243Win. They were quite capable of MOA when shot prone, or other rested positions, with aperture sights. I don't think the .222Rem model was ever sold in the U.S., anyone here ever seen one? The only disadvantage the BLR/MLR had in these competitions was the four-shot magazine, which was a handicap in the timed fire events (5 shots in 60, 45, & 10 seconds), as you had to start with an empty chamber. I had a fairly early MLR in .308Win for a while, but didn't use it much for the competitions, prefering the more traditional lever rifles (in my case a Marlin 1893 in .38/55, & later a Winchester Model 65 in .218Bee.....also capable of MOA with bolt peep). I always thought a BLR in .358Win would make a great cast boolit rifle!
