Not taken with a cast bullet, but lead none the less, Winchester .22 shorts. I set a few traps out last night to catch some chicken eating coons, and got a 50 percent success rate. Now the decision is to fry, roast, bbq....

Good job there, Skinner! You didn't happen to weigh 'em before ya skinned 'em, did ya'?

OH, OH, OH, BBQ BBQ just make sure the scent peanuts are taken out. I've fooled so many people with BBQ coon, telling them that it's beef makes me glot. Very good eat'n there and cheap too.

Sweet

Haven't had coon in years. Bars used to have huge coon feeds a few years ago, (alright 40+). Couldn't charge but I'm sure they made up for it in drinks.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT HOW TO BBQ A COON. Feel free to pm me if this ain't the place.

One of those would sure look good on the lad's head.

My mother in law BBQ'ed coon for a bunch of the local businessmen in town years ago and it was a big "TO DO" back then. A real social gathering. It was delicious!

Here's ONE site, COOKS.COM (http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1-1,raccoon,FE.html), with 24 'coon recipes! Grab some joe, go to Google and type in 'raccoon recipes'. If you can't find one you like, you don't really want one.

I forgot to weigh them before skinning them, but they felt every bit of 30lbs or more for the two of them while in the pack basket. I have had it fried/roasted, and also BBQ, and it is all pretty good as long as the majority of the fat is trimmed off, or drained once cooked. I only ended up saving the hind legs, as my dad offered to cook them this time if I saved the legs for him. May have to boil or pressure cook first as they were both old boar coon. If nothing else, I have the fixings to make the wife a new pair of "earrings". Oh, and they still have coon feeds around here, in fact there is one coming up this Friday in NW Ohio at the Fulton County Sportsmans Club in case anyone is nearby. The flyer said it had coon, chili, venison, beef, meatloaf, other game...$20 bucks a ticket.

Did not know coon could be cooked other than as General Tso Chicken.
