You uninstall it. When they offer a fix, reinstall it.

For a Windows machine. Go to 'START', then "Control Panel", then "Programs and Features". Wait a
minute while it looks up all the software installed on your computer and makes a list. Find
"Java" ( probably Java 7 or Java 9) on the list, highlight it and select "uninstall". Watch the boxes and
click as it needs to approve the actions. It will take a few minutes. I have been told that if you are using
Windows Internet Explorer it will help to go to "Tools" and turn on "Compatibility Mode". Not positive about
this but I did it and nothing seems amiss in a few minutes of surfing the web and coming here
and posting this.

Better safe than sorry.

Many of these 'GQ drills' are really BS, but this one came directly from DOD, where they are uninstalling
it everywhere, so I decided to 'put on a condom' so to speak.

In internet explorer I just disabled it.
left click on the tools icon up by favorites.
Click manage add ons.

Maybe I'm still not safe.

I did the same in Firefox (Tools/Options/Content) but it also disables attachment functions on this forum.

If you have not disabled Java, I think you are missing the point. MUST uninstall Java or install a
fixed update version which will unistall the old one and then install a fixed one. I got a Java
update message today, figured it was the fix for this problem.

I just downloaded Java 7 update 11 and installed it. It is the fix for this problem.

Go get it and you shouldn't have to uninstall anything, it should uninstall and then
install the new, fixed version.
