I searched "roller" and got 100's of hits but nothing I was looking for...

Is there something that explains using a cigarette roller to patch?

I have one but
(1) I'm not sure if it should be a cigar roller because this one looks to small - it's 100mm long but looks like it won't hold much for a boolit,
(2) I've never smoked so I don't know how to use this thing!!

I think a good example with pics would make a great sticky

Go to you tube. Type cigarette roller in the search bar. There are many types demonstrated there. None exactly look like the ones I used 50 years ago, but one was close.

That's a fat 16mm piece of bright round bar I patched on the cig roller. It obviously won't fit between the rollers but it still works.

Hmmm. My girlfriend smokes, and has one of those rollers, but she hates rolling her own (doesn't like the unfiltered results). I wonder if her rolling machine will disappear one of these days...

If you want the roller, don't let her find out that she can get filters to go with it.

I don't recall seeing filters to fit hand rolling papers at the tobacco store; they do have filtered tubes for a different kind of machine, but those are apparently an even bigger annoyance to operate. In any case, she doesn't like rolling them either, so I doubt she'll miss the machine. She might even help me figure out how to use it to roll the patches on...

Doc 1 was kind enough to send me one. I played with it for a while but found I can do a better job patching on my rubber pad.

Cigarette/Cigar roller?

I saw a Cigar Roller in Havana back in '97.........she was way too pretty to put to work patching slugs!

"injection" type rollers are easier for your tobacco rolling needs

Based on the cussing I hear when those are in use here, I might have to disagree with that, but I haven't tried one myself; the folks using them aren't exactly what I'd call mechanically inclined... :-?

I roll my own using several styles like 303Guy uses. I am going to have to find one so that I can dedicate it to "Boolits". I use what is called an "Aqua-filter". they are disposable filters (plastic an tin) that you are supposed to throw away after 5 or 6 uses. Nope, don't throw them away--Buy a package of 200 plain filters for a 1.99 and when the filter is full--pull the tin holder out, punch out the old filter with a paper clip, put new one in and replace the tin holder. Been using the original 10 pack for about 5 years now reloading them (hey, it works for cartridges too :) ) figure that I'll try it with "boolits" too. But I have been warned not to try and smoke the "boolits" :).

bigted--just blundered back into this thread and figured I'd have to reply. It really isn't that hard to get them lit, just use an Ox y-acetlene torch. the hard part of lighting it is your face and mustache!:mrgreen:

SMac: ya, welcome aboard. Some really nice people here. I have tried a dollar bill but just can't seem to get the hang of it. for me, I find the Rizzla, JOB and bugler rollers work best for me. Have a great time here. God Bless to all and theirs.

That cig roller in my pics broke! I hardly used it even. The plastic in the rollers must have aged and became brittle. It's not that it didn't work well, it's just that I preferred rolling the patches dry with my fingers. I never did get into mass production - not yet anyway. But the cig roller really does a good job of patching once one gets the hang of it. One day I'm going to build a roller machine to make patch alignment quicker and easier. One day (when I get a round toowit).

Hey, 303guy: if you have a plastic roller you can trim the nubbies off that fit in grooves, then drill them out the size of a small ring shank brad that will ride in the groove. Cut the ring shank the depth of the hole plus the thickness of the rollers side walls. Put a drop of your favorite super glue in the hole and insert the nail through the side wall. WALLA --- fixed. Oh yes, don't do what i did the first time---forgot to put the material over the roller before putting the thing together:veryconfu:oops:

If I can find it I'll try that, thanks. Mind you, I can easily enough make new rollers for it.

If she was all that AND willing to patch your slugs, you shoulda kept her! :D

I've used both a rubber pad (mouse pad upside-down) and a cig roller. Once the cig roller gets figured out you get VERY consistent, uniform patches.

It was a chore just getting the cigars back into the country.....I can imagine what bringing a woman would be like! I don't think Fidel would have liked that very much anyway.
