A 30-30 Winchester 94AE Trapper with 16 inch barrel is available to me. I would like to know if they are accurate as compared to the 20 inch model 94 to 150 yards.
Second questions, is the 16 inch barrel accurate with reduced powder (ie, 10 grains Unique) plinking loads to 50 yards?

I can't tell you how a 94AE Trapper in .30-30 would compare to a 20" model 94, but I can tell you that my Trapper AE in .44 mag "shot much better" than my 20" bbl'd Marlin 1894 in .44 mag.

It's an individual thing but some folks feel a short, stiff barrel like the Trappers' is more accurate than a longer, more flexible tube. I can tell you that both of my Trappers have more than adequate accuracy for the hunting situations I bought them for. They're also quick and handy and just plain sexy-looking!
