Just wondering if anyone has a red dot load for 7x57? Looking at case vol in comparison to 308, would think that the old 13 gr of RD might work fine. That said, would like to know if any of the 7x57 shooters have used it or any RD load. Have 287469 and 287641. The old 16 gr. of 2400 shoots very well with either blt in my 77 Ruger, but have a qty of RD that I might as well start using up.

My Lyman handbook says 8.5 to 11.5 gr red dot for the 287308 boolit which has a nominal weight of 162 gr for 7mm mauser . My impression is that the peak pressure is right up there at the max load listed. Muzzle velocity is only listed at 1400fps +- though. It must all happen very quickly with red dot. Lyman third edition page 165.

I run a red dot plinking load in my 7x57 and at 11.5 gn get 1500fps for a 160gn cast bullet and a very good 50-100yd plinker. Am more inclined to use my Blue Dot load though as 17.2gn behind the same bullet gets me to 1900 fpos and very good 100 yd load.

yeah red dot bumps the pressure up fast.
11.5 and the rcbs 145 and 168 gave me numbers very similar to von gruffs.
have no hard data on pressure but i'd assumed/kinda figured it [using che measurement] right close to 40-k.
moved on to using 4895 and like it much better.

Found a Red Dot load for 7x57 in the old RCBS book w/a recommended MAX load of 11.2. I loaded 10 gr. and will give that a try. Think I will also try Von Gruffs' recommendation for Blue Dot. I have no arguement with Run's statement on 4895, and like it for 7x57 for faster vols and pressure factors.
