Watched gun buy-back on news...The LEO's could hardly contain their glee on camera..one was bubbling over with joy..as he stuffed what appeared a very nice new condition blued S&W into a garbage can filled nearly to the brim with pistols..both auto & revolver. The revolvers particularly looked like high-end Smiths & Colts..certainly not the average turn-in gun. I even saw a scoped S&W!
I'll bet someone in the dept. is going to have a nice collection out of that haul! You would think before jamming a nice condition handgun in there they would at least have the common sence to check if it was stolen?

Good morning
Why do something that requires intellegence ? And the average commi hearted viewer only has eyes for the slave state programs to advance the good of the common man.
"Eye wash" is all that matters. The empty illusion of progress.

One of my old car forums talked about two guys that knew where the buy back program was going to be held. So they cashed out their savings, stood outside in the parking lot and offered a slightly better deal than the buy back. Which was only like 50 or 75 bucks each gun. They said they got quite a few nice pieces before the cops figured out what they were doing and asked them to leave. No crime committed as there was no paperwork required for private sale. Would love to sit outside one of those places and pick up nice older guns for 100 a piece. No No.. don't worry maam this gun will be off the streets and properly disposed of....in my safe.

I hate the buy back no questions ask, how many stolen guns get trashed and the real owner gets the shaft and the crook gets a fix.
I do not ever remember a gun buy back here and I hope it never happens, it helps when your chief and mayor are gun friendly and encourage the CCW program. Also helps the the Governor carries!

This buy back process is a joke on reality! All it does is appease the anti gun yoyo's meantality!

To prevent obesity, we must now outlaw the availability of knifes and forks. Also, all mail order plates and glasses must be obtained from a licensed dealer.

We must bring these fat people under control!!

Saw a buy back on TV the other night. Saw someone taking a 30 carbine out of their car and the camera showed AR's and a Thompson 45!!

I have to wonder how many of the news clips on buy back guns are fake, I know there will be some folks that inherited a gun or two turn some with potential, but anybody that knows anything about a gun is not going to turn in anything other than junk. I doubt the thieves will be turning in any tools of the trade, too many wanna be gangbangers will pay good money for even junk.

I agree even if it's stolen the thief knows what it's worth and can easily get far more than the comparatively token payment from a buy back program and also does anyone honestly think a thief is going to walk up to police personnel at a police run event with a stolen gun even if it's supposedly a no questions asked program? I have always thought these buy back events that have like new and valuable weapons turned in have a gimmick factor, there's simply not that many people going to do something that dumb!

Just wait until buybacks become mandatory. Give a little sip of the Kool-aid, get the general proletariat used to the idea, then a bigger sip, then it becomes mainstream and the laws quietly change.

Speaking of kool-aid where is jim jones when you need him to siphon off a bunch more liberal retards , buy backs are another misuse of public funds , and a waste of time of police services , have a gun stolen and it is still low priority here for a officer to come take a report , sorry but we are over whelmed and violent crime comes first , I have been stone walled by the local police , and have read the police report on my stolen firearms , they used them to trade for other info. with the punk . As in the mean while pawn shop down town across from the cop shop buys any stolen firearms from people they know can not legally own , knowing they could not pass the check to get them out , what a steal of a buy , makes for a lucrative profit margin for them, it is a circus for the media and those who buy into this belief in it is going to be a safer society when the law abiding are disarmed .

You just don't know how close you are to the truth.

Our large city isn't doing a "buy back". They are doing a gun turn in with no questions asked. Meaning they aren't giving out any cash at all!! At first they advertised all guns would be destroyed, now they are saying some relics or antiques may go to "museums". The police chief was pretty giddy showing off all his new toys.

I don't know about other states but in Ca. when the police get there hands on a firearm it is recorded and destroyed. Some towns will return stolen guns but cities like Los Angeles usually melt them too. It becomes a big circus when truck loads of guns are taken down to the harbor to be thrown into the giant shredder. The truck will have an escort of motorcycle cops and the politicions put on hard hats and do big photo ops. The news media loves the show. At one time some police dept. would strip the pistols and sell all parts but the frame. No more. A few years ago collectors in San Bernardino were trying to stop the destruction of a Winchester 1873, serial #3. I don't know if they were successful or not. The mistake many people make in thinking about the police and the destruction of guns is that the police really care. Most cops care very little about guns and some will even sell their personal carry weapons as soon as they retire. To most cops a hand gun is a tool required on their job and nothing more. I have known enough of them to know of what I speak. As a final word I will even say that most cops know very little about guns and don't really care. There is nothing new in what I am saying, even lawmen like Waytt Earp and Bat Masterson had little interest in in guns once they gave up law enforcement.

Kinda like the one where the news team had one of Ronny Barrett's rifles up for show and it ended up being part of the SWAT inventory. Ronny will no longer fix or sell guns to CA period. Forever. I met him a couple times. He means what he says. Swell guy BTW

Don't see too many buy backs around here, but them being "No questions asked", I've wondered about making something out of plumbing pipe and lumber. Could bring a primed case to "prove it would fire", make some $. J

If my local city PD does a buy-back, I plan to attend, and try to buy a couple of really nice guns. The only law/ordinance that might be broken is "solicitation without a permit." I wonder what the PD would do if I whipped out a permit to solicit?!! BAM! I might just do it.

You hit the nail on the head. The buy-backs have very little value....But, it is a slow conditioning of the "sheeple"...Getting poeple used to turning in guns so when manditory turn-ins are ordered people will mindlessly comply without resisting.

Gun back backs are Public Relations opportunities for the anti gun owner movement.
Same as "gun amnesties".
They are government agents preying on the stupid. A local lady turned in a collection of her deceased husbands handguns, a collection that would have gone a long ways to paying off her debts and allowing her some economic advantage, to the police. Her motives were altruistic, however in reality it was just a gesture that did not reduce crime or violence, and ensured that she did NOT GET THE VALUE her husband had earned and invested into the guns.

Those who support gun amnesties do not care about truth or fact - nor do they care about reality. The criminals ain't turning in their guns unless it is to get money to buy more guns or something illegal.
