View Full Version : Anyone know why contributors are newly disallowed from swappin'?

About the time the new forums were deployed I was disallowed from posting in the Swappin' & Sellin' forum. I am a paid contributor which gave me permission to post for a time, but that seems to have disappeared. Any ideas as to why?

SWAPPING, BUYING, SELLING Rules per 45Nut and forum.

must be a member of 30 days AND have 25 posts. Note in August of 2011 we started requiring both , if a member joined prior to the cut-off you are grandfathered in.

Privileges to post here can be revoked for abusing the above terms. Thanks!

I suggest you PM Ken, 45Nut, if you feel you should have the priviledge.

It's amazing what you can find out by reading the instructions/rules.

Just a system glitch, you still need the minimum required posts and time.

I think FishHawk has been away.

Before you jump up and down and cry foul, there is also a policy somewhere that says that the posting/time requirements are waived for paid contributors. There was a wtb post within the last month from someone who had 1 post and a mod chimed in to explain the waiver. Unfortunately, I can't find the post.

Based on that and the value that I've received already from the site, I made the decision to pay to support the site, and was enabled (at least temporarily) to post in the WTS and WTB sections.

And how come he still has 22 posts after two more posts in this thread?

I am the person and me alone in charge of the S&S forum there will be the requirement for 30 days and 25 posts for every one. The whole thing has been a sore topic in staff and the policy stands as it is 30 days 25 relevant posts for every one. End of discussion. steve k swapping and selling moderator

There you go. How simple is that? Just contribute a few more times and you're gold. It's not like we have to pay for each word we type.

Steve,
You made no mention of the "grandfather" clause. Has it been rescinded?

no the grandfather clause is still in effect. This is for all new members those that joined after 8-8-2011

Fishhawk explained via PM the nature of the temporary capability that has since been rescinded.

I can't figure out this post count thing. First he posts with 22 at the beginning and his other posts didn't add to the total. Now he's up to 25 but that is adjusted to all his posts? I guess I've never paid enough attention to mine to notice how it works.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I would guess that you had your 30 days or 25 relavent posts long before 8-8-2011.

Ok, I now have 25 posts and 30+days, AND I have contributed to the well-being of the forum, AND I have accepted the mid-stream change of policy. How do I go about getting the restrictions lifted?

You send BOTH the OWNER of the site AND the moderator EACH a 50# box of WW ingots. :kidding::bigsmyl2:

Give them a break. ALL work done at this site is done without any more compensation than a THANK YOU. Almost everyone here has a family and a job that MUST be attended to BEFORE they come here and volunteer their time.

I see how it is. :-D Should'a done that from the very start!

I get that and I fully understand the nature of volunteer work. However, nowhere have I seen instructions on how to lift the requirements. Is it automated? Performed manually? Hence my request for information. If I had assumed it was done manually, I'd be waiting for months, apparently.

Try posting now. I still think some of it is system glitches.

I LOVE this site!! It is entertaining. When someone starts a post like this, it seems as if a group of curmedgeons are waiting to pounce. The movie Grumpy Old Men with Walter Mattheau and Jack Lemmon comes to mind. I LOVE it!!!! Don't ever change guys, you make life interesting.
