I have been trying to get a load to work in my m&p9c. The problem I have been having is the boolits hit the throat prematurely causing me to have to load to a very short coal. I have tried a 358 round flat and had to seat it to 1.025 and it still barely touches. I also tried a 105 swc and had to seat it to 0.096 to not touch. These are both Lee moulds. What can I try next? I also compared these loads to a kahr cm9. The cm9 chamber is 0.06 deeper to the throat. It seats fine with the 358 round flat at 1.105.

Short throated guns work well with Lee 356-120 TC, which is why this is my primary and
highly recommended design for 9mm. Get the conventional lube version, TL is reported
to work by many, but it seems that the higher success is in the more moderate calibers
and 9mm gets a lot of failures in TL. Since we need somewhat oversized for boolits,
a rounded ogive is often at odds with a tight throat design for the barrel.

This may be helpful.

I'm interested in this also as I have a 9mm barrel coming in for my M&P40. The 358-125-RF and 358-158-RF noses are 358 all the way down to the crimp groove. Did you slug your barrel or throat? My 40 is also very short throated and if I don't size the 401-175-TC's some will not pass the plunk test.

When you seat the 358-105-SWC's to 0.96", is that where the shoulder is flush to the case mouth?

Do you size the boolits? If so, what size do you use? It would be nice to cast 358 boolits and choose whether to load them in 9mm or 38/375 by just choosing the sizer.

The cm9 chamber is 60 thousandths deeper than the M&P? Carrumba - how in the world would a cartridge head space?

you have tried what's next.
if the shorter oal is feeding and chambering fine what's the issue?
my oal is .095 with the boolit i use.
i reworked my loads to shoot to my sights, and for functioning.
oal isn't a big deal.
the mold mt gun suggests is one that catches my eye every time i look at 9m molds.
i just haven't bought it yet.
i'd probbably have to modify the diameter slightly as i do need the full 358.

Well, I guess I will have to rework the 125 round flat and go even deeper to prevent contact. The 105 swc doesn't like to feed all the time. Time to order the 120 tc.

Is the 120 tc available in 358?

Rsrocket... The 105 at 0.096 is not exactly flush. There is a little of the first band above the case rim. Although, they don't always feed good this short. I do size them to 0.358.

it mightt make 358 even with a 356 designation.
lee's +- on a mold is .003.
and you can easily make a mold .002 larger in a couple of hours.
