A friend of my son named Richard has broken his back in three places without spinal cord damage. This was near Lynchburg, VA and it happened today. He is in the hospital now with his wife and Kyle. One of the broken areas are not clearly see and the MD's are not sure how bad the damage is yet.

Obviously he was not strapped in with a harness. Our pastor Kyle is going to go hunting with my best friend on Sat., I will lend him my harness so this won't happen to him.

My thoughts/prayers for family.

Folks wear your harness.

Wife's cousin has been lying there in that cold ground for something like 15 years because he was not wearing any protection from tree stand fall.

Safer Yet. Stop using Tree Stands. My prayers are going out to this young man for a recovery from this terrible fall.

Wayne, that's a tough thing. I broke mine in one place years ago logging when I was younger, with no cord damage. It didn't seem like a big thing then, but every year has got more painful dealing with it. Some days I just plain can't do anything.

Prayers have been sent. My Dad broke his back in WWII and did fine until late in life when scar tissue built up and caused pain to where he had to have a morphine pump installed to make pain bearable.

He's out of the hospital and home in a back brace. Has to wear that at least three months, maybe more.

That's got to be better for him recovering at home than having to stay in the hospital for that length of time. It could have been a lot worse for that young man. He's still in our prayers.

Wayne,

I have thought about Kyle several times over the past several weeks, everytime my boys climb a tree, I hope he is healing well...
