I picked up a couple Lyman molds from a friend to try out. Here is what I have:

Lyman 4 cavity 357446 - 158 grain SWC
Like the four hole mold but it sure gets heavy after a while. I tried to find some information about this mold and what little I could find did not sound promising. Some posts show that this bullet is not accurate. I have enough problems - don't need to start with a bullet that doesn't work well.

Lyman 2 cavity 452374 - 225 grain RN
I plan to shoot these in a new 45 I just purchased. I find the single lube band interesting and assume I seat the bullet just above the lube ring.

I have been using Lee molds for my 9, 38, and 40 all in the TL. The 38's seem to work well enough, haven't tried the 9's or 40's just yet even though I have had them for well over a year.

Any information would be helpful. And no I have not slugged my barrel yet. The 38's are shot in multiple firearms, the 9's the same. A single 40 and 45 - for now anyway.

I have both the 358446 and 358477. The -477 is a pretty easy bullet to make perform, a little less luck with the -446, but maybe I just haven't hit the right combo yet.

The 452374 is Lyman's version of the GI ball bullet. It has worked in every .45 I've tried it in, not quite as accurate for me as a couple of different SWCs I use but a good bullet nonetheless.

I have read some negative things about the 446 and accuracy as well. I haven't read much at all on the 45 bullet. I have read that the RN is the way to go and pretty much what I want to stick with on the 9, 40 and 45. On the 38 I still like the SWC - why? I don't know.

Before I start picking up more molds and sizers for my 450 I want to make sure I get this close to right. Thanks

I find the 358446 to be casting heavy, mine drops at 165 gr. from WW. I did find that the harder I drove it the more accurate it seemed to be. It did not work for me in 38 Special, in 357 it did if I loaded hot.

That could be why I haven't gotten the -446 to do much, most of my shooting is with .38s and .38 +P level loads in .357 cases and guns. The 358477 works fine at these levels, and if I really want to swat something I use the 358429. But I might try it with upper end loads just to see what happens.
