The Arizona trip was fun but there is nothing like coming home. Arizona in 9 days is hard to pull off. We landed in Phoenix, drove a rental car to Tombstone. Spent the night, had a beer at Big Nose Kate's then drove to Tucson, the next day we took in the Pima air and space center. Next we went to Williams and took the train to the Grand Canyon. Next day it was Sedona and the red rocks, then back to the big ditch. Spent the night at Maswik Lodge and headed to Hoover Dam. Took the dam tour and then drove to Vegas, Vegas is not my kind of place. After losing the little money I had left we went back to Phoenix and caught the plane back to Elizabeth City. Pics to come.

You came close to me 292, just down the road from Williams by Gunsite. I gave up Mass. for AZ. 13 yrs ago. Never looked back. You sure took the tour.

My folks moved here from AZ. I was the first kid born in Arkansas and proud of it, but I was raised on western food and culture. We used to drive back to AZ when I was a little feller and I remember my grandfather and my dad taking me to that museum. I remember we got the grand tour and got to see the repair shop out back (I suppose it was because grandpa was a veteran and everybody there knew him). I guess I was about 5 years old, but I still remember walking up to a B-52 bomber and grandpa yelling at the fellers putting rivets in the wing "Hey, what the hell are you doing to my plane?!? He was a bombardier in WWII.) That's one of my earliest memories. Wonderful state.

It was the trip of a lifetime for us. If I ever do it again I will stay another day in Tombstone and another day at the Grand Canyon and stay away from Las Vegas. More pics to come.

Make that trip in the summer. Those roads with their curves and SNOW are hazardous to a coastal Carolina resident.:)

Your children just had a trip of a lifetime and they are old enough to remember it as well.

Good going DAD.

Most of these folks on the board here probably don't know about the Blizzard of '80:bigsmyl2: Or plumb forgot who got clobbered!

I remember that snowstorm well, I was a senior in high school. There was 4 foot snow drift about 1/4 mile from my house, both ways. Couldn't go anywhere for days. Elizabeth City got the golden shovel award from Good Morning America.

Yup, 36" in 24 hrs. Kinda put a crimp on my style, what with my bald tires. Learned me a lesson, it did!
