I cast up some nice HPs from my new MP 434640 HP this afternoon using the large round pins. I used 50/50 ww/pure as suggested in another thread. This was my first experience with HPs, and I had beautiful boolits almost right away after I smoked the cavities a little bit.
Has anybody loaded these boolits up for the .44 Special? I want a reasonably stiff load without red-lining my 696, so I'm thinking 6.5-7.0 gr. of Unique, but that's just based on load data for the 250 gr. Keith. out of Brian Pearce's "Category One" data. It looks like it should be safe, although browsing some other threads and one of Glenn Fryxell's articles makes me think the alloy isn't soft enough for reliable expansion at those velocities.
