Was at the range yesterday and picked up about 50 once fired 7.62x51 brass, stamped with 71, and 2 stars. It was destined for my scrap bucket, when I discovered that it was one hole boxer primed. In the trash bbl were small boxes marked 7.62x51, some German text and the word Austria. As this is the same as 308, and I presume it is Austrian military brass from 1971, I brought it home, full length resized it, cleaned it, and have it primed and ready to load. It weighs about 10-12 gr. heavier than 308 Rem brass, and about 4-5 heavier than Win brass. Had to remove military crimp to reprime, and all of the cases were long, requireing considerable case trimming on all of the cases. All of the brass showed very consistant annealing coloration. I have picked up over the years a number of 7.62x51 some marked that way, and some just dated, and all of it berdan primed. My question, are there any out there on the web who are reloading this brass, and if so, your opinion(s) please.
I thank in advance all who respond to this thread.

Assume high quality brass as most European made brass is. Shoot it while comparing same load with your other "match" cases. ... felix

If you can post a picture of the headstamp, we might be able to give more info.
