Dad's got to brag about his kid. He finished 70/474 in his group, 451/4867 total @ 3:44 for the Dallas Marathon. 8.5 min/mile for 26 miles. Drove to town to cheer him on, saw him @ ~24, he had a smile on his face, but he said that's all he had. Time wasn't what he wanted but he's recovering from a bad knee so he's OK with it. Keeps saying he's going to do NY next year, but isn't fast enough to qual for Boston.

I'd run every marathon there is as long as I could do it on a hover round!!

I reckon I would brag, if I just lived through it. lol
Just curious, what kind of time does it take to qualify for boston.

His kids high 5 the runners (don't know this fellow. Surprised the runners would come over & give them to the kids). He messed up a knee coaching soccer for the younger last year, so is just recovering.
Boston requires placing high in several with ~3hr time, depending on age group. NY is has a lottery system now but if you applied in the past you get an early pick.

Hope he don't have a CCW, knowing NY and blunderbuss, they probably do a background check and will see he's gun friendly and deny his chance at NY marathon.
Thats cool the runners will high 5 the kids though!

I t was neat seeing all those who'd already 'hit the wall' smile and swing over to high 5 kids they didn't even know. About 75% did. Several did the 'low' and a couple did the 'jump'.

If he has not tried them tell him to try http://www.hokaoneone.com/ shoes. I just got these for my wife and they are great for people with knee issues.

More power to the young man. I decided not to jog or run early in life for the fun of it for exercise because, I have never seen a runner or jogger smile while in the process. Have done my share of running and jogging, but it was of necessity, part of the training or the job, etc!
