Supposed to be around minus 5 here tonight in the mountains. A far cry from minus 36 but still cold.

Yep, he lives in Fairbanks, New Mexico.
But he likes to drive up to Nome for lunch on Saturdays.

I have driven to most places in alaska that has a road to get you there, but haven't got a map with a road to nome yet. lol

Crawdaddy I lived in NM over 20 years and raised my kids there, maybe that is why. lol

My brother works on the N Slope. He said it was -51 there a few days ago. Much too cold for me.

It's supposed to get down to about 32 here tonight, (NOT minus) and thats gold enough for me. :)

In the 40s last week. I am enjoying the fruit of the move.
You know you can drive to Nome but only in winter. Just follow the iditerod trail.
There are lots of winter roads to isolated places. If you fly over the country you can see them even in summer. From where I lived in winter you can drive across the Tanana to Healy village.
