I'm thinking of loading up some Garand loads for my well worn M1 rifle. When using the 314299 for this, (over 40grns 4831) do you still size it down to .310"? Doesnt that defeat the whole purpose of using the bigger boolit? I have .311" boolet moulds that I could use too, but I keep reading the 314299 is good for worn 30cal throats. Help please! Thanks-

Size would be whatever will allow the round to chamber freely without resistance to the bolt closing . Strip the bolt of your rifle and check this by hand to feel that is does chamber easy , sort of like using a headspace gauge .

Years back I used a 311334 sized to .3095" - .310" , but that was a different barrel than what you got Elvis .

Thanks Jack. I know you shouldnt try to touch the lands with the bullet in a Garand, for fear of slamfires, but did you inch the 311334 out some to fill more of the throat?
