I would like a .357 heavy for subsonic loading. Something around 250 grains. HP optional, but round nose seems the best front profile for this one. Anyone know of or have such a bullet mould ? I have been watching ebay without any luck for the last 3 years for such a critter.

N.E.I. makes a 282gr nominal mold. My old one casts closer to 300. I have heard that quality is not what it used to be. Walt made mine and it is a work of art.

Tom at Accurate has some in his catalog. Thats who I'll go with as I get closer to completion with my 357 Max project.

http://www.hunters-supply.com/shop/index.php?cPath=25&osCsid=267f4e77da83a0433939e94631dcccab These folks have some 250 and 300 grainers if you need to buy them. Scroll down about a fourth of the page. I'm like you and want my own mold though. I do have a friend that has successfully used the Hunter supply boolits sub-sonic out of a 357 max with good results.

Not a round nose but RCBS has a 250 gr 357 flat point mold.

Here's a pic of it sitting next to a 357 Mag case.

Hope this helps.

I've never heard of such a boolit, the 230 thunderhead. I'd be curious to see it at the pin range. It says it is rated for 900 fps. That would be stout recoil at the pin range.

I don't think a hollow point is going to expand at sub sonic velocity.
At 100 yards you are probably looking at 800 fps +/-

I am sure there is someone here that has tried it.

You might check NOE's website..
They had a 358318 group buy sometime ago and they were available with the HP option..
You can also buy a regular .358 mold and send it to Erik who modify it to a HP mold..
Or you can HP your loaded bullets in Forester's case trimmer using their HP fixture..
I am wondering were you are or will be getting your loading data for a 250gr+ bullet in the .357 mag. case..
I would like to shoot some heavy's in my .357 single shot is why I ask but I have no clue were to look for load data for such a heavy bullet..

I believe NOE has a group buy for the 358009 now. They don't come any heavier in .357.

Another more common option, but not as heavy as you're wanting would be the 200gr 358430 Lyman.

Lyman used to make a SWC-GC in a 220gn with a dual crimp groove. I think it was intended for the 357 max but workg good in the mag as well. You might find one of those on the used market. I have one but I use it alot.

That is the 358627 Bullshop, and those rarely change hands for a good reason.
