He didn’t do it with a cast but I still had to post it here, This is his first buck, we don’t get to hunt with each other much but we did this time and I will never forget it. I had seen this deer about an hour before and tried to get a shot at it but it dropped over a ridge and I couldn’t get a shot, I forgot to put a round in the chamber anyway. We had setup in different places where we thought it might go. About 20 min later I here 2 shots that sound like they came from across the valley, I here on my radio (what sounded to me, dad was that you?) I answered no not me, then I here no dad that was me. I got one down, it looks like a good size buck, and can you get up here. I wasted no time in getting there. I get to where he is and find him standing over a very nice 8-point. My son is shaking and ask’s me Dad what do you think. I said I think it’s the finest buck I have ever seen. Then he tells me, Dad this is great getting a nice deer, but what makes it even better is that we did it together. It doesn’t get any better.

Nice buck, for the first time or any time. Great that you and your son could share a great hunt together. Congratulations to your son.

First buck?! Now he's downright ruined. Sounds like he's got a level head in those wise words he shared with you. Congrats to both of you!

Very nice buck. I remember the look on my father's face with my first turkey and buck. I would like to seen your expressions as this event unfolded. I hope you cherish them for a long time.

Surely you're going to have the head mounted. Sure would be a great reminder every time someone comes into your house and asks, "Who shot that one?" You can simply say, "have a seat, let me tell you about our hunt."

My son never took an interest in hunting, so, I'll never get to experience the pride and affection you two shared on your hunt. Enjoy!

Nice deer! Kinda bad to take such a good one as your first though. It'll be a while before he gets another one that good most likely.

Nicely done! Great buck, great hunt! Outdoorfan is right, he's ruined. My first deer was a nice 8 pt 25 yrs ago and I may never take a finer buck. Thanks for passing on our heritage to your sons.

That's a dandy I guess the antler restrictions helped that one grow big. What area you hunting up on the ridge? Gonna try again tomorrow only seen one legal buck on Monday but he didn't want to cooperate with my plans.

We are in the mill run area. problem with the new rules they are killing off all the doe's, this is the only deer I have seen in two days of hunting, something has to change!
Thanks again for all the replys
