I finished up the mold and cast a few. They come out .453-.454 and seat easy out of pure lead. I am going to try WW's to get them larger and see if they shoot better but it will be a while before I shoot any of them. I used the cherry to cut my boolit seating stem too. Works like a charm.
I will keep you posted about how they shoot.
I think I screwed up on the cherry. I might have oil hardened water hardening steel. Still worked but it got a little rough. Time to buy more and keep it separate.

I made up some boolits today and my friend dropped off his Pietta .44 Rem 12" buf hunter to try them in too. I figured 32 gr's of Swiss FFFG is about it, might be able to go a tiny bit more. The Ruger will take 34 gr's. The boolits loaded nice in the Rem. Might have time to shoot today.

I would think that 32 grains of Swiss would be pretty stout for an Italian gun.Sure the Rugers will handle as much as you can fit in the cylinder, but I wouldn't trust the imports to stand up.

Just one man's opinion

Nice. I wonder how they would do in a Walker Dragoon.
