can you use reloader 15 rifle powder for loading 45acp and 9mm?

You can but the boolits/bullets may not make it out the barrel.
Do a search for powder burn rate chart and print out the most complete one you can find.
Anything on the slow side of Blue Dot or possibly as slow as 2400 but that would be absolute is too slow for 45 acp or 9mm.
That eliminates the bulk of your chart but leaves plenty for the job too. For the most part about the first dozen powders on the chart are what will be correct for 45 acp and 9mm.
The burn rate chart lists all powders from fastest to slowest. I could not possibly continue loading without a good burn rate chart.

For the record, RL-15 is a rifle powder that falls in the general area of 4895/4064/Varget/4320 depending on the exact load and cartridge. It's a very good powder.

Welcome to CastBoolits,

Here is burn rate chart that lists 142 powders from fastest to slowest. It is NOT a loading guide, it is a list of the powders.

A reloading manual??? would go a long way to this question. Checkout the online manuals provided by just about every powder company.

I worded that like that because I have met new reloaders that thought you could use a burn rate chart as a loading guide.

RL15 is a good medium speed rifle powder. Very inappropriate for a pistol cart like .45 ACP.

RL 15 is designed to burn properly at FAR higher pressures than the max of a .45 ACP,
so would not burn well at all in that cartridge, expect lots of unburnt powder and very
low and inconsistent velocities.

You want Titegroup, Bullseye, Red Dot or something in fast end of the burning
range.

Get a COUPLE of paper loading manuals. They will show data of powders
that are in the appropriate burning speeds for each cartridge.

rl-15 will work in a 44 mag.
not very efficiently, but it works, you can get about 1200 fps from a lever gun with it.
you'd be wasting your time in the 45 acp and 9m.
i have tried 2400 in the 45 acp but not the 9m i'd stay in the bullseye to unique/herco burn rate area with them.

Buy a Lyman manual, preferably a cast boolit manual and read it. Then read it again!
