I just passed on an 1851 Navy Colt made by Armi San Paolo

It came with a locking wood case, powder flask, boolit mold a few balls and caps.

It also had an extra case harden trigger for some reason

The gun looked good, good bore but had some rust in the cylinder near the nipple holes

Wood case exterior was good but when you removed the gun from the case it was frayed

Powder flask had powder in it.

He wanted 300.00 for it. I offered him 200.00 he said he take 250.00

Case and accessories 100.00 and 100.00 for the 1851. I was only comfortable at the 200.00

The Gun maker is out of business. Any info on maker would be a help

Thanks

I just bought a used one that was originally sold by CVA many years ago. It was marked ASM = Armi San Marco. The gun is still very tight, meaning the tolorances have stayed good and not shot loose. I am very happy with it. Accuracy is surprisingly good. No case with it of course. $125 OTD. Bud

Most replacement parts will fit, so don't worry about anything breaking. Parts are available. Should be a good shooter.

was it brass frame or steel ? what cal. .36 or .44? if it was a steel frame .36 you could add another 50 o your offer and not get hurt. the traces of rust around the nipples ment someone snaped some caps which bruns out the oil.

that is where they will rust if caps are snapped.

these are fun cheap shooters. about 15 grains of pyrodex or more of the expensive black powder and the 80 grain .375 lead balls. Some crisco over the balls and caps. Smoke, bang and mild recoil. They usually shoot high so just aim low. I can shoot the colt gun a long time before it needs cleaning. I have to take the ruger old army apart after about 50 shots as it won't work anymore unless its cleaned.

I use american pioneer powder{white powder} in my ROA and it stays very clean, never had to stop shooting to clean it
