I bought a new set of barrels for my Valmet: 12 gauge over 8x57 JRS. The 8x57 JRS is a rimmed version of the rimless 8x57 JS cartridge, and it has the .323" groove diameter. It has a lower maximum operating pressure than the 8x57 JS.

I'm wondering if anybody has any cast loads that work in their combination gun or double rifle in 8x57 JR or JRS.

I bet the classic 13 grains of Red Dot over any boolit from 150 grains and up will work. I understand that doubles and combination guns can be fussy about regulation but I would try that load for sure. Personally I have had good luck with my 180 grain Lee RN with 13 gr Red Dot. I also shoot the 8mm Karabiner boolit at 237 grains with 32 grains of H4895 held in place with 2.2cc of puf lon. It is a very accurate load and it's flat nose should make it a formidable killer if you are looking to hunt with your rifle as well.

I've had good results with 20.5gr of IMR 4198 with a 200 gr. cast bullet in my drilling, and shot to the sights at 50 yds.

21.5 grains of Milsurp 4759 and the 175 grain GB boolit worked well for me.
1685 fps according tomy PACT.
