So I have have a few pm's about melting jackets, I thought I would post a few pics of my projects and answer any questions that might come up.



Here is my first attempt built quick and dirty but survived about two months heating up to 1800 degrees.

The first post was melting aluminum I didn't even wait for the refratory to dry

The second post was pics of a propane/oil burner

That is slick! Your burner setup looks very similar to the one I'm using on my forge. You're just injecting propane into a stream of blown air?

I can get mine plenty hot to forge weld steel, but it's a horizontal tube and I'm not sure I would be able to get a crucible in there.

Have you cast any copper ingots yet? I'd be interested to see how that works out for you.

I never tried much copper. Melted nickel a few times then son was born and havent messed with it. I inject propane in the stream then have a oil injector just before the nozzle.
