Just before I retired for good, I was part of the 7Q7 re-engine program, we took MD-80 engines and hung them on a older Boeing 707, I was the Mfg. Eng'r team leader. They have taken those engines and rehung them on a Air Force E8 and its going thru test, just got this from one of the guys that worked for me.

Yep, the JT-8D, and -9D for that matter, were/are excellent engines, as was the F-100 series. I developed "business" oriented software behind the scenes in East Hartford during the early and mid-70s. I am glad they are still doing some good. ... felix

GE engines, an outgrowth of the J-52 technology used in several military (and civilian) aircraft. I think...

RB or RJ? They can't decide what to do with the C17 program.

There's a good deal of satisfaction in that, isn't there? My last program is still flying....ISS Node 1.

Boeing used to sign my checks, too.

I've been around a couple of JT8's in my life.

If nothing else, it'll sure quiet those old 707s down a bunch. I wasn't sure there was much of anything louder than those old A-model water-injection J-57s. Of course, F-105s also come to mind. . .

Cool that they're hanging better engines on those old 707s.
