“ John browning: Man and Gunmaker” by James Barrington is available free on Amazon this morning. I don’t know how long it will last. Good book.

I think I’ve posted this before, but it seems appropriate here and is always good for a grin.

Thanks XBT, that woke me up better than the cup Ol' joe I'm inhaling will! But as was explained in the book, those tupperware guns made by glock, still use the locking principle first designed by JMB!

Sleeplessness last night resulted in the reading of the book. In case some think it'll involve a lot of time, it only took about 2 hours. It filled in the gaps of what I knew about the man. "A genius" is hardly a good description! The way he put it was; " The time and place for a gun maker just got together on this corner. And I happened along."

The book is well written, and moves right along with few real details about construction. I'm going to get a paper copy to give to my son. He spent a lot of time and a large pile of empties, behind a "Ma Deuce" in Afghanistan.

Thanks for letting people know. I downloaded it last night. I haven't read it but read a bio in the early 70's that was great. His father was a genius gunsmith as well. just stuck in the single shot bp era.
XBT, that cartoon graces my office wall and the gun room as well.

A trick to use when somebody refers to a book title is to highlight and copy the title. Then paste it in the search area of amazon.

John browning: Man and Gunmaker Without the "" Just what I did, got it first try. Since recluse provided a direct link, you don't have to on this one, just remember it next time.

After I loaded mine, got to thinking about the possibility of other freebees. Typed in Guns, and found two that I wanted and loaded. Typed in hunting, and found another two that I wanted and loaded. Lots of good free reading.

1Shirt --

I read your post and thought what a dummy I was. I did the same thing and then sorted by price low to high. That shows up all the freebies.

Got some GREAT classics one of which was "The Scalp Hunters". Read that when I was a kid and can't wait to read it again.

I also found some hunting and other gun books. Great tip man THANKS!
