I just purchased a 2006 Guide Gun in 450 Marlin. It is a caliber that I have been looking for the last 2-3 years. I paid a premium (to me) but I am proud of my new mistress. LOL.

Mild to Wild, enjoy. The 18 1/2" ported in this house is a blast. Really, when one gets squeezed under roof at range look around. Everybody has to see what just rumbled their chairs. Two lengths of brass, gummy tips/big mep. Gtek

I also have a 450 Marlin and don't enjoy shooting factory loads. However my handloads are very nice. Plenty accurate too! I hope you enjoy the heck out of it.

Which is why I bought one in 45/70 For those that like the 450 more power to you but I think it is the gun companies just trying to invent the wheel again. A hotter loaded 45/70 pretty much duplicates the 450 for all intents and purposes. But if ya like it that is all that counts.

I like pulverizing boulders with mine. The shoving recoil and low boom make it fun for me.

45-70 has become my go to round with RD 350gr boolit I can load them hot out to 200yards or slow them down for real brush busting . the knock down power is second to known!

I enjoy the push and recoil. I also like to own something that is different. This is also one of 2 rifles going to Alaska, hopefully, in 2014.

Try walking in the brush with earmuffs on. LISTENING for a bear who is quieter than you in the woods

Ported barrels are nice at the range. Shooting one in the field of is another thing.

Congrats, you will love it. I have the 1895M in 450 marlin. Great gun. I don't know the difference between the GG and the one I have.
