Hi Jeff,

 I'd consider the Snake Eye if you threw in a pre loved Skyhawk on the deal... hehe. Very cool though.

You might get a laugh out of this, decades ago we had a house fire and one of our neighbours told us about the firemen coming across my East German helmet that was still smoking in the rubble. Anyway apparently a charred ball about the size of a grenade rolled out from somewhere and they all scattered and hit the deck...

Even today I still miss playing pool on that sweet table.

We had to tell the fire dept about the ordinance at our house. One little pop, and that is the end of the fight. They said they will leave. Probably best, anyway.

I have instructed SWMBO that if fire ever reaches the south east corner of the basement to drop what she is doing and run like he**.

Way to big for my reloading room. Makes my existing cartridge collection look like nothing.

Cool!

Forty-some years ago, I loaded, fuzed, and armed countless thousands of those 500-pounders, with both the high-drag and conical fin assemblies.

Well there were a few inaccuracies in his ad; but it would be neat to own as a conversation piece.

Robert, and I was not a AO.

I asked SWMBO and her response was "why?".

What sort of question is that? Does there need to be reason?

OK, please explain to us ignorant civilians. Is this a MOS code or something?

Bill,
462 was the Air Force MOS for a weapons mechanic. The job entailed loading the various munitions (bombs(including nukes) rockets, missiles, ammo) maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of the aircraft weapon's delivery systems, arming and de-arming aircraft, etc.

In my case, it was with the F-100 and the F-4.

Someone else noticed also:
MK 84 = 2000 lbs
MK 82 = 500 lbs
I was a 462 on F-4E, F-4G, and F-16 aircraft

Thanks for the info, and thanks for your service, guys. My father and
brother flew Phantom IIs for the Navy, and I have grown quite fond of
that old bird over the years. F-4E was a bit different than the original Navy
bird - best thing was adding back the cannon that should have never been
deleted in the first place.

I am impressed with folks that work on explosives, not being too comfortable
around them myself. On one level, I understand that they are mechanical/chemical
devices and if handled properly by skilled people, they are relatively safe - on the
other hand, "THE THING COULD EXPLODE!!!!!!!" is lurking in the back of my
mind somewhere.

I was a 4054 munitions officer. I worked with 462's daily. Half of my 462's were also cross trained as crew chiefs.
