Herbie - Try sizing without the lock ring. You'll be pleasantly surprised. It makes adjusting SO much easier to boot. I mark my punch to make sure it doesn't move - it never does. enjoy Mike

go to the star sub section here.
look at the sticky for lathesmith.
chris will make you new sizers, punches, lockrings.

now the cool part, he makes the sizers the size you want.
the punches the size you need and offers hollow ground ones too.
and his lock rings can be had with set screws so you can set them for a particular set-up and lock the setting in.

i bought a bunch of stuff from him then bought a new mold 2 days later [siiigh]
i'll have to make another order so i'll get some more custom stuff from him even though what i have been using works.
i think just buying the right stuff will make it even better.

You won't find the lock nut in a store, the thread is 1/2" x 27, not even close to anything a hardware store will have.

No place but Star, or make it. VERY odd thread. NOT at a hardware
store for sure.
