I have a 158 grain round nose mould from Lee, can i use this bullets in 357 mag cases ? I am asking because it seems most 357 mag uses flat nose.

yes you can, should be no problem.

Why not? Just keep in mind, that's a plain-base boolit so it may need to be cast a bit harder if you're going to load to 'magnum' velocities...or, keep it down below 1100-1200 fps and have a ball. I load Lee's 150 gr. RN to +P levels in .38 cases for a practice load in my 3" SP-101 and typically run through 100 rounds or more at a session...very, very accurate and, essentially, no leading at all.

I have shot lots of Round nose in 357/38's . I like them for the leaver action rifle and since I had the mould why not in the pistol too! The work great in the lever gun.

I am going to use them in a browning 92 lever action and at P+ level. Not sure where i got it from, but i think i have heard that round nosed 357 mag cartridges could create problems for some weapons. I could be wrong.

bluez: I use a Lee round nose in my Highway Patrol Model S&W and I have to seat them a little deeper in the 357 cases because they are a little to long for the cylinder if I don't. It is a very good boolit to use. I have also used it in a Rossi 92 that I had and it worked quite well. I have also used round nose J words and boolits in my 94 Win. 30-30, no problems. When I shot the round nose in the Rossi I had no problems with length.

Something else to consider, using round nose vs semi-wadcutter just works faster with speed loaders/moon clips. That is if you are into that kind of stuff.

The only bad thing about RN bullets is that they tend to rip a paper target instead of cutting a nice round hole like a SWC or WC.

Yes you can!

You do not need to cast them harder.
Clip on wheel weights will test BNH 10 to 12.
Range scrap will test BNH 8 to 9.

I use either of these interchangeably in the .357 up to 1600 fps ( rifle ).

If they lead, it is because they don't fit or are not lubed properly.

FIT is king!

+1 on william's comments. Harder is not necessary if the design, lube and fit are right.

I feel a round nose is more accurate then a semi wad cutter from the cylinder alignment, forcing cone stand point.
True it does not make round holes in paper but how many really need that?
It is always a complaint with hand gun shooters but notice BR and long range rifle shooters do not use Keith boolits. :veryconfu

No reason not to use your round nose bullets in .357 brass. There are better designs for hunting, but for general target/plinking/practice they are as good as any.

I had Bruce at BRP make me a couple of custom short variations of the 358430 designed by 45 2.1. One is a PB 160gr and the other a GC 180gr.
These are both very accurate bullets in revolvers and my single shot carbines !
Although Bruce is no longer in production you might have Tom at Accurate Molds make you a similar design to your personal specs.

That is a beautiful mold! I consider Bruce a good friend, we had many E mails over the years and he sent me many boolits to test. He is a machinist first class and knows boolits. Sadly he had to change jobs and move. I missed out by not having any money to buy some of his molds and will always regret it. Living on SS is a force you can't fight. :(
My hope is that he returns to making molds some day. Tom is also a wonder with machines and molds.

bluez, There are many different bullet moulds made by RCBS, LYMAN, SAECO and the custom maker Tom at Accurate moulds that are better suited for your Browning.
I'm speaking of the RNFP design used in SASS matches. They will be a much better design for feeding and using in a lever action rifle as that is what they are designed for.
They will be a better bullet for all around use for paper punching, plinking or hunting.
The biggest difference is that the RN will pass through tissue without any shock factor when compared to the RNFP. Look at all the lever bullets from the old lever action rifles and see the design they have.
The 357 will make a inside 100 deer taker if you feed it correctly or a man stopper if needed.
The RCBS 38-158-CM is the design I speak of.

All nost forms will shoot well as long as they are the proper dia. RN handgun molds on ebay tend to sell cheaper than other forms, but if you are just loading for practice shooting they are a bargin.
