Closer to 80% Alox / 20% paint thinner. 50/50 will be too thin. 80/20 maybe too thin. I'd shoot for the consistency of pancake syrup, adding a little more thinner until I got there.

Silvyus, you don't need to thin it, just heat the bottle in hot water for a few minutes. It's the difference between hot molasses and cold molasses. Try this method first, if you don't like the results you've lost nothing. If not to your satisfaction then mess with the mixture...Ray

I thin it by at least 20%, 4-1 ratio alox to mineral spirits for Lee tumble lubing .38 TL wad-cutters, .40 TLSWC, and .45 TLSWC. Never had any problems.

I dilute 50/50 for non TL rifle boolits before gas checking, sizing and lubing with Larsen's BAC stick lube in the Lyman 450

However much you need to.

I thinned it a lot trying to get it to squirt out the hole on the bottle, then I got smart and thought, why? I then unscrewed the cap and dribbled it out. Works much better.

Also try dropping a bullet or other small piece of lead in. Helps it to agitate better when you shake it.

I'm thinning 2 parts lighter fluid to 1 part LLA . It still is acceptable for leading prevention. The lube star is smaller. The bullitos shoot as well as with the soft, thick, brown varnish of straight on them. For 25-20 I keep the mix in a babyfood jar, shake well with a lost bullet in there, dip singly to cover grooves and let dry on a plastic piece of wally bag. Small batches mostly, for fresh ammo. Works for me. BvT

When I open a new bottle of LLA, I top it off with odorless mineral spirits, it has worked well for my coat/dry/size/coat/dry/load method.
