I sighted in my .358 this morning, similar group, but pulled one about 3/4" right. .35 bore cast boolits rule!
I was sad to find that I can no longer see well enough to use the aperture sights, so had to put a scope on. It sucks getting old.

Getting old beats the alternative.

Your stories of the 358 were the impetus for me to get the 200 grain GB mold. I was heading towards 358 and then after looking at the 8X57s in the safe and the slight difference in diameter dropped the 358 idea and shot the w200 grainer out of a 357 Herrett.

Now you guys go tempting me to build a 358 again.

You do need one, but if I couldn't have one, I would be perfectly happy with a 8X57 for the rest of my days.

Milkman I like what I am seeing with that group. I have played around with liter boolits but always thought the twist in my rifle was too slow for heavy boolits. Mine is 1/16. What is the twist in your rifle?

It is a 1-14. I can send you a few of these if you want to try them.

Not wanting to rain on the parade but.....

One 5 shot group is not sufficient to tell you much expect the load has potential. I see this a lot and all I can say is you need more work.

Now shoot 5 - 5 shot groups with the same load and see what you get.

BTW, I have heard the argument that we do not take many shots in the field so why test with so many rounds? The point is that "chance" can give you a one good 5 shot group. It will boost your confidence if you KNOW the load is accurate and not a pattern. With 5 groups that are consistent you know your casting technique is good and the load is good.
