I have an SP101 with 3" barrel and I'm looking to get a mold for it. I've shot a few 180 SWC's, wadcutters and even some Nyclads. I've started firelapping the barrel and at 18 yds the firelap bullets will cluster in as little as 2" but I haven't had the same results with a full power load. Twist in these barrels is 1: 18 ¾. I'm thinking a WFN somewhere in the 165gr range.....or? I shoot LBT's in my 44's but haven't tried any in this one...NOE molds look good too. Any recommedations for this particular pistol?
thanks!

What kind of 'full-power' are you looking to achieve? I've run 358156's over 7.5 gr. of Blue Dot for around 825 fps out of my 3" SP101 which pretty well matches any factory load for snubbies. Regularly, for practice, I shoot Lee 358-150 RNs at just over 900 fps which approximate my 'carry' load of Federal +P HydraShoks for recoil and POI.

I take it you're shooting 357 Mag.

I've had reasonable accuracy with the Glen Larsen RNFP and the NOE version at 180 grains. Also I got good accuracy from the 160 gr NOE RNFP. I've also shot a Lyman plain base but can't recall the mold number but it is about 150 grains, SWC design. The old reliable 358156 shoots well but I have been trying to stay away from gas checked boolit since I really don't need them. Fast powders have given me the best results, likely due to the 3" barrel.

I would look seriously at the Lee 358158 or 160 grain RNFP boolit.

Course that's just me!

Just got through loading about 250 Lee 158 gr RNFP for my wifes in 38 spc cases for her to practice with. They shoot well for me.

I use 358091 cast soft in my SP101 and enough 2400 to get over 1300 fps out my 2.25" barrel. Plenty of power, flame and shreds milk jugs impressively and the recoil registers on the Richter scale.

357446 (162 gn SWC) shoots excellent out of my SP101.
