My 45-70 slugged out to .457 and the bullets I have on hand are .459 and a very hard commercial cast alloy.Should I leave them .459 or size them to .458?They will be use in a New England SB2 Handi rifle.I'm not sure of the twist rate.I'm kind of stumped on this one,so all help is greatly appreciated.

If a dummy round will chamber, I would try them as they are.

with that rifle i'd think you have what you need in diameter.
especially at that hardness.
the alloy is most likely 2/6/92 and a bhn of 15-16.

Another vote for 'shoot them and see' - if you can chamber them.

Shoot em.. see how they fly

They will size when you pull the trigger.

Ok I'm going to shoot as is.I did get carried away and down sized 15 to .458 and loaded them over 10 gn unique.I have a star that I just got and it came with a .458 die and could not stop myself.I will prolly pull them and cull the smaller boolits. It sure was fun useing the star for the first time:grin:.Live and learn.
