I really lucked out on this one, had to share the story...

I have been trying to figure out how to upgrade my backyard shooting range but kept procrastinating due to lack of ideas and funding.

The issue was the my shooting area was at the bottom of a steep gulley in the woods at the back of my yard. My backstop was a delapitated old wooden structure collapsing more each day. I've been getting ready to rebuild it, collecting scrap lumber.

Then one day my town selectman called, they were going to be ditching my road and wanted to know if I wanted any free fill. I ripped down my sorry old backstop, grabbed my chainsaw and cut some trees to get a little bit deeper into the woods.

The next day they delivered 33 dump trucks of nice fill. My neighbor used his tractor to try and level it out between trucks. At the end the big loader from the road work crew was nice enough to come in and make a nice berm for me.

Overall the ground level was raised about 6-8 feet, I gained quite a bit of useable yard space, and now have a nice earthen berm to shoot at and now I have about a 50 yard area.

Really it did benefit the road crew too since they didn't have to truck the stuff far away.

33 truck loads of fill, you were truly blessed.

You must be livin' right!!! A great place to shoot, right out your back door, and all for free! Now that is a "hat trick" if I ever saw one. Hope you get lots of fun out of it. Enjoy!

Good for you! Some times Karma works in our favor
But did you really have to include the photo of a member of the senate?
Or is that a member of congress?
