Trailboss is great stuff. I use 13 grains in a 45-70 with a cast bullet with excellent results.

In my opinion it is one of the best cast bullet powders around.

I tried trail boss for the first time in 30-30 the other day. put 9.5 grains behing a lee 150 gc flat point. at 50 yards got a 8"group and thought well hell that ain't right so went back in the house and loaded ten more of the same load without a gas check and didn't resize them 2 5 shot strings and you could cover both groups with a worn out dime. It is a very low pressure powder and didn't disrupt that gas checked resized bullet enough to grab the rifling.I like IMR'S rule about trail boss too. Mark how deep you seat the bullet in the case then mark it and fill with powder to that level that is the maximum load for that case with a lead bullet. This load is kinda like shooting a 22 it just happens to be throwing a 160 grain boolit at the same speed.

I can't help you on your questions but I use alot of trailboss and less is usually better than more. It seems to work best sub-sonic but I don't know it all for all calibers.

A+ to that. Trail boss does not like to be compressed. Take a max load per above, reduce by 30 percent. That is your start load. Work up from there for accuracy to the max load.
