Found a pair of them at our range the other day. Now I can tell you that that brass is like hens' teeth in this part of the world. I know the own and have offered them back - even put them through my tumbler for him. What an odd looking case!

I have a 458 SOCOM and cringe every time I lose one of the cases. They aren't cheap. It is a fun and versatile caliber to shoot.

What can you make them out of? It's a belted magnum of some sort isn't it?

No, it's a lengthened, necked down 50AE.

Who chambers an AR in 577/450? :bigsmyl2:

There are three reasons I went with a .450 Bushmaster over the .458 Socom.

First: Bushmaster and Remington both make .450B brass, and I can also make it out of any .284 W based case.

Second: I can size down any .458 projectile to .452. It's much harder to "size up" a .452 projectile to .458

Third: Just looking at a .458 Socom case makes me concerned about bolt thrust.
