Loaded up a few AA 1680 loads with 23.0 gr. and a Lee 180 gr. boolit. Was something I read on another site and alot of the guys were using it according to the thread.

Anyway, cuts a pretty small group, under an inch for 5-shots and no signs of pressure.

Anyone have anything I should know about that before I load a bunch more?

I also wonder if AA #9 is a suitable powder for use in reduced rifle loads with cast boolits?

I use AA1680 in the 223 for short barrels .
I found I got little or no muzzel flash

Also I use AA1680 with cast in the SKS , with great results

No reason to think a proper charge would not work in the 06 with cast

AA #9 is between 2400 and Blue Dot
So if you can get it to ignite/burn properly , with the low load density it should work

But I remember trying reduced loads with it in the 44 mag
My memory is failing me on exactly what problems I had , to not continue
But if I remember right , light loads were real dirty and maybe inconsistain ??

But try it , it may work

I'll give it a shot then next trip to the range. I also tried it in .243 but 2400 is still the king in that cartridge. It worked but nothing to crow about. I have had real good luck with BlueDot in .44 mag., .444 Marlin & .30-30. Getting it to light off though..maybe no trouble?
Thanks for the confirmation on that John!

AA9 is a lot like 2400 and WC820, will work in the same calibers and conditions.
