Good morning
Started out firing the 414 SM Marlin at 25 yards sitting on my rear. That load was 9.5 grains Unique with a 225 Spear FN PB made of 50-50. First two rounds were half inch apart 12" low and 5 inches left. Sight adjustment made. Fired one more round to verify I was near on with sight setting . Next 7 rounds fired from 50 yards formed a nice cluster 6 inches high and 1 inch left.
The photo (but laying on it's right side) is my 50 yard target. Letter A (top target) is my first round of 26 grains of 1680 with the 265 GC 50-50 boolit. The lettered cluster are the next 6 rounds after a sight adjustment. Shots E&F I think were me realizing I need more than a T-shirt under the buttplate. Recoil reminds me of shooting my Marlin 375 Winchester with a heavy boolit.
The group on the white sheet is 27 grains of 1680 under the same boolit. Maybe I am over stressing 50-50 with this powder charge. Will cast up some in WW.
But the rifle shoots and load development will follow.

Mike,
That's got to be really gratifying for a first try. When I started working with a Rebored Winchester M-92 (357) I was glad to get an 8" group at first. I thought something was wrong. (Very wrong) The more I ran lead down that bore, the more it settled in. I hope you keep posting your targets. This is an interesting thread for me. I like big bores.

Greetings
Can do ! Just put in 3 hours casting up 5 different boolit styles and weights ranging from 240 - 265 grains all of WW for this bruiser. No more T-shirt shooting unless I can find my slip on recoil absorber.

Mike: I tend to prefer larger recoil pads. :bigsmyl2:

Greetings
Me too ! This morning I returned to the range and took my slipon. 38 degrees and windy also demanded my wool vest with a nylon windbreaker. That was much more comfortable.
