Registered on the board a while back and smelted some lead during the winter... I'm finally getting around to casting. Bought some stuff from grafs earlier this week and got my stuff in today.

So, i casted about 50 or 60 bullets out of the Lee 90301. I mainly got this mold for the .32 mag, but wanted double duty for 7.62x25mm.

But, now that I casted and loaded some rounds, I think it's more for the .32 mag, and 'if I HAD to' for the 30 tok. Too much shaving of the lead due to the canting of the bullet due to the short neck.

But, i had fun casting and will continue to do so.

Looks like you did a fine job. Will there be a range report next?

Well, i shot some of the .32 mags before I shot this pic. 3" SP101. I was mainly seeing how it felt and to get the sights on target. Uh, starline brass, 2.8gr titegroup. NO leading after 12 rounds. If it wasnt for the small bit of powder residue, the bore looks unfired.

Gratifying isn't it bro? You can put a very slight flare on your brass and eliminate the lead scraping when seating the boolits.

I did flare my brass. I always do on all cartridges I reload. I think the problem is that the neck on the 7.62x25mm is only about 2mm long. So, I get the base started, then it hits the lube groove and there's not enough support until it can hit the next driving band so it cants slightly and shaves a bit off the driving band. I may just have to flare a lot more so the bullet can drop right in.

Seems to me that if the seating die works properly, the case and bullet should both be located well enough so that canting is unlikely. You might check whether lube is building up unevenly somewhere in the die or seating punch. I understand the problem caused by the very short neck and the lube grooves, but with a flared case mouth I wouldn't expect it to be nearly bad enough to cause lead shaving (though you might not like the runout figures). I could be wrong, of course.

+ 1/12 twist of flaring die=no shaved lead.
